1年間（4学期構成） ※別に1学期だけ、とか3学期だけとかでもいいのですが、1年分全部やることにしたので夏休みなし(T_T)



友達づてにイタリア留学経験者の方に話を聞いたり、イタリア文化会館の留学イベントに参加しました。イベントはここ毎年開催されているせいか、結構多くの学校や留学関連機関（航空会社や運輸、保険会社、検定業界含む）が参加していて、私が興味を持っていたシエナ外大の日本人担当者の方も来ていて、色々と収穫になりました。が、色々な学校が来て、誘惑もされました。


本当はジェノバなら治安も比較的良く、きれいな海もあって、フランス／モナコの国境近くで完璧！と思ってはいたのですが、イタリア北部は以前旅行でですが尋ねたことがあったのと、大学が無かったのです。

シチリアも海があって暖かくて、治安も悪くないという意味では相当惹かれました。

シエナは内陸という個人的な懸念もあるものの、小さく歴史のある街で、訛りも比較的少なく「語学のメッカ」とも呼ばれるシエナ外大があるとのことだったので、行きたい！と思いました。

ただ学費が決して安くは無い上に、かつての「連続受講（4ヶ月目以降）割引」も無いので、どうせだったら、途中からでも他の都市の学校に移るプランにしようかなど悩みましたが、やはり授業の内容やレベルが繋がってた方が良いとか、直前だったので、ひとつの学校に通しで、それも国立に行った方がビザが通りやすいので、もはや選択肢がここか、後はペルージャ外国人大学くらいしかなかったのです。



留学期間を、半年にするか、9か月にするか、1年にするか、悩むだけ悩みましたが、ただでさえ学校も勉強も久々なので、覚えるのに時間が掛るだろうと思ったのと、なんとなくやるなら年単位でやりたいと思ったんですね。



ツラツラと書きましたが、結局最後は勘で決めました。

シエナ外大かペルージャ外大にしても、どちらかって言ったらトスカーナ行ってみたいな、ご飯美味しそうだし、海にも比較的近い？というくらいでしたが、行ったことある方（他の地方に厳しいイタリア人でさえ）シエナの印象が良いようで、安心しました。



期間にしても、イタリアという国柄的に、また自分の性格的にじ～っくり時間をかけて理解したり慣れたり親しくなったりっていう方が向いてると思うので結果オーライです。

So I chose to go to University of Siena for Foreigners/Università per Stranieri di Siena.

I've decided to go for 1 year, and figured out that I have almost no holiday during this term... sigh...


Honestly, even though I have decided to go to Italy, I had no clue which area nor school where I was going. I just had a vague idea that I 'think' I want to go somewhere near Genoa because it is near the ocean, and is preferrably safe.

So, I went to this event held at the Italian Cultural Centre in Tokyo, where many people from each language school in Italy had gathered once a year.
There were even the people from the National University/Language school from Siena, and Perugia, that I have heard about from my friend.
Although, there were quite a number of schools and people there, that I felt tempted to go to other places such as Sicily as well, for its beautiful ocean, and warm climate.

Whileas, both Siena and Perugia are located at the innter side of the land, so I wasn't very happy with that, but since the due of the administration was near, 'national' school was an advantage to get the visa faster.


Generally(not so sure of the reality but), it seem to have been said that Siena is a good Language school for its history that the origin of Italian language is from Tuscany, and they have the background having also the Italian students studying various languages, and how to teach Italian, that various communication/exchange activities were offered. And food is good in Tuscany.
Perhaps for its quality/pride, the price weren't so cheap, that I also have thought of moving areas/schools from term to another, but I thought going to once school/area might help me more in studying its language and culture deeply.


I even wondered whether I'd go for 6 months, 9 months or 12 months.
Although, I wasn't confident enough for myself whether I could learn fast after having 10 odd years of studying, I decided to do it in a 'yearly' term. And so that I don't need to rush, or feel too much pressure after all -because this is not work/job! And I can feel pressure as much as I want after that when I get back to work!


Though of all above, I think in the end it was all an intuition.
But I think I've made the right decision after all.
